Skill Canada Graphic Design Presentation Project

You are to design and produce material promoting the new location and highlighting the 2017 Ontario Technological Skills Competition (OTSC) as an exciting event where competitors will put their skills on display during the competitions. Your theme should reflect the diversity and excitement of the competition day to students aged 14 - 21. Posters will be on display at elementary and high schools in Ontario.

Participants will create a theme and visual concept that will be applied to the promotional pieces.

All material must reflect the theme and be consistent in content. The design used must be the original and creative work of the individual competitor. Stock photography and illustration are acceptable, as well as student originals. Design and copy art may be generated by hand or by using electronic equipment and appropriate software.
Full colour may be used in the material.
The poster dimensions: 10” by 16” to allow for full bleed and trim. The poster must be vertical. The Facebook banner dimensions: 8.5” wide by 5” high
You will need to follow the Facebook standard proportions.
The t-shirt presentation dimensions: 8.5” wide by 9.5” high
Trim all pieces to their correct size. No white border should be visible unless it is part of the design.
The three (3) pieces are to be mounted on a black display board: 24” by 20”
No other elements are to be on the display board besides the 3 pieces presented.
 NO competitor
name, school or labels such as “poster”, “postcard” etc. should appear on the front of the display board.
All dimensions will be measured and scored accordingly.
A signed letter from your school and sketchbook are required and scored accordingly (see Verification). 
The student shall be prepared to participate in an interview component during which time the student will describe their concepts and how they conform to the theme. The presentation and interview will be 10-15 minutes in length. Students must bring an 8.5" x 11" notebook containing roughs showing concept and layout development. Students selected for the interview may not participate in another contest at the Ontario Technological Skills Competition.
A letter signed by an administrator certifying that the promotional package was designed and produced by the student will be the first page of the notebook. The letter must identify the school, school board, city and the student that will be interviewed.
The promotional package must be set up and moved according to the schedule outlined by Skills Ontario. Instruction for set up will be
given at the Orientation meeting.
Skills Ontario reserves the right to
reproduce any of the promotional packages in whole or in part without the permission of the student but will acknowledge the creator on the reproduction.
